Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is expected to begin filming this September.
In an interview with TheWrap, Hellboy himself David Harbour said he recently wrapped shooting Stranger Things: Season 2 and is now preparing to film the recently-announced R-rated Hellboy reboot. "We’re supposed to go in September, I hope," said Harbour. The actor also took to Instagram to show himself being fitted for the iconic Right Hand of Doom.
Harbour also confirmed the reboot will have "a darker tone to it" than the previous two Hellboy films from director Guillermo del Toro. While Harbour wants Rise of the Blood Queen to be a fun comic book movie, he said he also wants "it to be more of a character piece and more about this dude's struggle."
Harbour also recently met with former Hellboy star Ron Perlman, revealing to Yahoo that comedian Patton Oswalt "brokered a peace" between the two during dinner. "I just thought Patton Oswalt would be the perfect chaperone in case Ron and I started to make out or we started dancing too close or if we started getting in a fistfight," Harbour said.
Oswalt posted a photo on Twitter of himself, Harbour and Perlman sitting together, saying the "summit dinner was a smashing success."
Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen will be directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent). For more on the reboot, check out the nine things IGN wants from Rise of the Blood Queen and don't miss the movie's first promo art.
