Godzilla 2 Begins Filming, Synopsis Reveals Other Monsters

Godzilla will face his ultimate nemesis.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will feature multiple monsters, and has commenced filming.

The sequel to 2014's Godzilla has recently began rolling in Atlanta, Georgia, aiming for a March 22, 2019 release. According to the film's official synopsis, Godzilla will be going up against Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. While these monsters face off, the crypto-zoological agency Monarch has to find a way to put an end to the anarchy.

The film's cast includes Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, Zhang Ziyi, as well as Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins, who are reprising their roles from the 2014 reboot. Michael Doughetry (Krampus) will be directing from a script he co-wrote with Krampus writing partner Zach Shields.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be part of Warner Bros.' new cinematic monsters universe, which so far includes Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island.

It will set the stage for the fourth film in the franchise, crossover movie Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020. Check out every monster that's officially part of the MonsterVerse.
