Small print on FIFA 18's reveal trailer has revealed some key differences between the core game and its upcoming Nintendo Switch version.
The new video (below, at 0:40) includes a line of text that reads: "Frostbite game engine technology and The Journey: Hunter Returns mode are available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platform versions only. Not all features available on all platforms." Switch is conspicuous in its absence.
It's unclear exactly what that means for the Nintendo version of FIFA 18. In terms of features, it seems it will be closer to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. However, ex-EA executive Peter Moore previously said that FIFA was was being "custom-built" for Switch, which might allow for better base performance.
That might be borne out by EA's own press release for its upcoming E3 show, in which it continues to separate this year's FIFA outings into "FIFA 18" and "EA SPORTS FIFA on the Nintendo Switch" - a seeming indication that it considers the Switch version somewhat standalone.
Incidentally, that small print - and specificially the phrase "The Journey: Hunter Returns mode" also appears to confirm that Alex Hunter, star of FIFA's first ever story campaign, will once again be the focus for its second season.
All versions of FIFA 18 will be released on September 29, and will feature Cristiano Ronaldo looking strangely sad on the cover. We'll find out much more about FIFA at E3 next week.
