Cyberpunk 2077: Early Design Documents Stolen

"When the time is right, you will hear about Cyberpunk 2077 from us - officially."

Early design documents for Cyberpunk 2077 are being held for ransom - and developer CD Projekt Red is resisting being extorted.

In an open letter to fans (which you can read in full below), the Witcher developer explains that multiple files have been obtained by someone outside of the company, and that the person or people responsible are now threatening to release the documents to the public if not paid.

CD Projekt Red is recommending that, if the documents are released, that those looking forward to the game avoid reading them, saying they are "unrepresentative of the current vision".

Cyberpunk 2077 - based on a tabletop role-playing game series - was first announced in 2012. Barring a teaser trailer in 2013, remarkably little is known about the project.

CD Projekt has previously said that it wouldn't talk about the game until 2017 - might we learn something at E3 next week? We'll be there for the duration, so keep an eye on IGN to find out.
