Whether you prefer playing your Switch docked or undocked, it really doesn’t matter. Because you’re probably going to need to get a case for it eventually. I mean let’s face it, the Switch is a portable console, so odds are you’ll likely end up gaming on the go with it sooner or later. So we put together a list of what we think are some of the best carrying cases currently available for your fancy new hybrid console.
The BUBM Carry Case for Nintendo Switch wastes no effort when it comes to protection. It sports a hard EVA shell that protects your Switch from high-impact falls and it’s definitely durable enough for you to just throw inside of your backpack and forget about when you’re on the move.
The inside of the case hosts a soft material that will keep your Switch free of any unwanted scratches, and despite it’s compact design, can hold a surprising amount of games and accessories. Splitting right down the middle of the inside of the case are two dividers that can each hold up to ten Switch Game Cards. Additionally, there’s a sizable zipper pouch where you can store things like an extra Joy-Con, your AC adapter, or even a portable power bank and charging cable. It really all depends on how you play when you’re on the go.
If you aren’t as concerned with keeping your Switch protected but you’d still like to travel around with it in style, well then the iVapo Game Traveler Carry Case might be closer to what you’re looking for. The first thing that you need to know about this case is that unlike the other carrying cases on this list is that iVapo chose to go with a soft-shell design for their Switch Case.
The iVapo Game Traveler Carry Case boasts a mix of Nylon and PU leather for its exterior, which helps for minor protection against water, scratches, dust, and some light turbulence. Not to mention there’s also an option to attach a lanyard—if you prefer to carry your Switch on your wrist— which can sometimes make things a little easier when your hands are full.
The inside of the case is fitted with a soft velvet lining that makes for a nice little cozy storage place for your Switch and also helps keep your Switch safe from scratches and other potentially hazardous elements. It can only hold up to eight Game Cards at a time, but for those of us going mostly digital, that shouldn’t be too big of an issue. There are also two built-in mesh pockets that provide additional storage for smaller Nintendo accessories like extra Joy-Con and charging cables.
Orzly’s Nintendo Switch Carry Case has quickly become one of the most popular Switch cases currently available. It’s designed specifically to make traveling with your Switch feel even more portable, and it’s perfect for people who prefer to play primarily in handheld mode.
The outside of the case is made from a hard EVA material that is sure to keep your Switch protected from any sudden impacts. The Switch itself, fits snugly inside the case on the lower portion, while the upper section features a separate inner pocket which can fit up to three extra pairs of Joy-Con, cables, and other smaller but essential accessories. As well as also including a dividing flap that doubles as extra protection for your Switch’s screen and holds up to eight Game Cards.
The NES Switch Case by Panda Cases goes straight for the nostalgia factor with their retro-style protective Switch carry case. The case is made of a hard TPU like material, which allows it to maintain a lightweight without sacrificing too much protection. Extra protection is always a plus when it comes to transporting your Switch. But let’s be honest, the real reason you’d choose this carry case over any of the others on this list is because of the awesome NES controller design printed right on the front of it.
Taking a look at the inside of the case, you’ll find that you have just enough room for any additional accessories that you might want to bring with you when you’re on the go. An extra pair of Joy-Con are always a good choice if you have them, but you’ll also have room for any additional charging accessories or even a playstand if you enjoy playing it Tabletop mode. Similar to the iVapo Game Traveler Case, the NES Switch Case falls a little short in the Game Cart storage department, leaving room for only five Game Cards. Although this case is really meant to be used more for day-to-day travel to and from school or work, rather than a cross-country trip with your entire Switch setup.
However, if you are looking to transport your entire Switch setup—and maybe even a little bit more—the EMiO Carry Case for Switch is most likely your best bet for a perfect Switch Carry Case.
This case is awesome. I’m just going to go ahead and say that right away. It’s made specifically in mind for people who frequently transport their entire Switch setup because it allows for a very quick plug and play setup. The case itself is made of a hard canvas material. It comes fitted with a velcro flap on the back for easy cable management and vents on each side to optimize airflow when you’re playing docked straight from the case. The EMiO Carry Case also has enough room to store either two Grips or two Pro Controllers and has 12 slots for any additional games you want to bring with you to your LAN party.
