This page covers Ultra Beasts obtainable in both Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and Pokemon Sun and Moon. This new subset of Legendary Pokemon known as the Ultra Beasts. You'll see some of these creatures appear during the main story, but you'll be able to catch them during a post game side quest.
EditHow to Catch Ultra Beasts in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
Most Ultra Beasts in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are obtained by entering Ultra Wormholes.
Blacephalon, Stakataka, and Poipole, and Nagandel are the only Ultra Beasts obtainable by methods besides exploring Ultra Wormholes. Here's how.
Ultra Sun Only Blacephalon will appear in Poni Grove after you beat the Elite Four. You will have the opportunity to capture two of them.
Ultra Moon Only Stakataka will appear in Poni Grove after you beat the Elite Four. You will have the opportunity to capture two of them.
Poipole is given to you after you defeat Ultra Necrozma in Ultra Megalopolis as part of the story. You can decline to take it and come back later, so you can save before accepting it in order to soft reset for a desired Nature.
Nagandel evolves from Poipole when Poipole levels up while knowing Dragon Pulse. Dragon Pulse can be taught to Poipole for 12 BP (Battle/Beach Points) at the Battle Tree on Poni Island after you defeat the Elite Four.
EditUltra Beast Quest in Sun and Moon
In Sun and Moon, once you complete the main story and become the Alolan Champion, leave your home and you'll be stopped by a mysterious man who will give you an Enigmatic Card. Head over to Route 8 and enter the motel to find Looker and Anabel.
After learning that they want your help catching the Ultra Beasts, battle Anabel, then head over to the Aether Foundation where Wicke will give you the new Beast Ball prototype. Using this special Pokeball on an Ultra Beast will increase the catch rate.
From here, return to the motel on Route 8 and speak to Looker to start your quest to find the first Ultra Beast!
Each Ultra Beast will appear at different locations around Alola in Sun and Moon once the main story is finished. Besides Nihilego, you can catch two of each of them! This is great considering the two version exclusives, Buzzwole and Celesteela.
Once you've got the Beast Balls from Wicke, return to Route 8 and Looker will run out of the motel to tell you that the Ultra Beast Nihilego has been spotted at Diglett's Tunnel and Wela Volcano Park. Head over to one of either places and head inside the tall grass. Keep running around until you encounter the Ultra Beast! You can only catch one Nihilego, so it doesn't matter which area you go to.
Nihilego's moveset consists of Power Gem, Mirror Coat, Acid Spray, and Venom Drench. Its ability is Beast Boost.
Buzzwole is exclusive to Pokemon Sun.
After you've captured Nihilego, return to Anabel at the motel and report your catch. After the group moves to Route 2, Nanu will appear and inform you that a new Ultra Beast has been spotted. He'll tell you about two Buzzwole if you're playing on Sun or four Pheromosa if you're playing on Moon.
