Super Mario Odyssey Is the Fastest-Selling Mario Game Ever in the US and Europe

It's backflipping off shelves.

Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Odyssey's success is continuing, as it becomes the fastest-selling Mario title ever in two major territories.

The US market accounts for 1.1 million copies alone, overtaking the launch sales of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. In Europe, the game eclipsed reigning champion Super Mario Galaxy 2's opening weekend sales, although no specific number was given.

It's not hugely surprising news - we already knew the game had sold over 2 million copies in just three days.

It's richly deserved - we awarded Odyssey a perfect 10 in our review, calling it a "generational masterpiece".

Mario's had a remarkably good hit rate for a character that's been in quite so many games - as if to prove that, here's every single one.
