Binding of Isaac Amiibo Teased

Binding of Isaac might be the next indie title to get its own amiibo.

Publisher Nicalis, Inc. posted a photo of a Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ amiibo to its Twitter feed. It looks like an actual, production amiibo, but it could just be a very convincing artist mock-up.

No details, like availability, functionality, or if it's even real, were given by Nicalis. Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ on Nintendo Switch is one of the few Switch games to really lean into the console's cartridge format. Instead of just adding a tutorial to the game itself, Binding of Isaac on Switch has an awesome Zelda-inspired instruction manual.

The first indie amiibo was for Yacht Club's legendary Shovel Knight, which came out December 2015 in the US. The Shovel Knight amiibo, unlike Nintendo amiibo, could be scanned directly through its box. The amiibo made by Nintendo have a small disk of material to block the RFD signal while still in their packaging.

In our Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ review, we gave the game a 9.0, saying it gives more of what we came to love about the original.
