How to Pick Your Favorite Starter in World of Final Fantasy

You'll begin in the fields outside of Cornelia, but very quickly you'll be able to find the caves known as the Nether Nebula to the right. Inside is your first dungeon. There are four different Mirages roaming wildly in these caves: Mini Golems, Copper Gnomes, Mandragora, and Floating Eyes.

You can catch all of these Mirages so be sure to look for them. You'll require the Mini Golem and Copper Gnome for an optional puzzle later and you will be able to better fight bosses later on with Floating Eye.

When you enter head up and to the right for a chest that contains a Libra Mirajewel. Mirajewels are Mirage abilities crystalized into gemstones that can give these Mirage-exclusive abilities directly to Reynn and Lann for however long they hold the gem. With this found you can roam the caves freely.

On the second screen of the Nether Nebula you'll traverse more winding roads but they're essentially a straight line. To the left near a Gimme Golem is a Sleekstone. Luckily, the Gimme Golem wants it so hand it over immediately. Proceed, go down the ramp, and head to the right of the Gimme Golem for a chest with three potions inside. Now go to a ledge and descend. Run left to get another chest with one potion inside. Run right and up a ramp to go to the next screen.

Puzzle Switches are seen for the first time in this third screen. You'll need to stack something with a weight of 3 and Earth Resistance of 50. A single Copper Gnome will do to proceed. Another Puzzle Switch can be seen but it is optional. Use a stack of aMini Golem and a Copper Gnome to satisfy the requirement of 5 Weight and 75 Earth Resistance of the switch. A bridge will appear and you will be able to open a chest with a Phoenix Down and another chest with the Earth Hammer inside. Remember to give it to that guard in Cornelia later. Go back to the main path and you'll see a danger zone ahead with a save point. Save your game and then head inside. If you lose here Tama can't bring you back so it's game over if you run out of HP.

Ramuh, Ifrit, and Shiva show themselves. They remember you, but you do not remember them. A test is proposed to see if Lann and Reynn are still worthy. At this point you get a choice between who to fight. It's almost like the beginning of Pokemon where you get to choose your starter because whichever one you pick you'll get a Mirage based on that boss' element. Defeat Ramuh to get Zapt, defeat Ifrit to get Fritt, or defeat Shiva to get Bablizz.

HP: 2562
Resistant to Lightning (+100) & Water (+50)
Vulnerable to Earth (-100) & Dark (-50).

Ramuh will use Lightning based attacks. When he is at about half of his remaining health he will use his signature move: Judgement Bolt. If you're using a three stack (example: Lann, Floating Eye, Tama) then you should be able to take its 200+ damage no problem. A smaller stack may be in trouble so be prepared to heal. Because he is weak to Earth and Dark and all the Mirages you've caught here use those elements you should be use to use the abilities Channel Element: Earth or Channel Element: Dark.

HP: 3024
Resistant to Fire (+100)
Vulnerable to Ice (-50) and Water (-50)

Ifrit is a user of Fire magic. When he is at half health he will use his signature move: Hellfire. Like Ramuh it will hit you hard to be ready to heal. Since he is a fire user you'll need something to put out his flames. Unfortunately, you don't have any water or ice spells yet so stick with physical attacks and wear him down until you've won. Careful item use may be required.

HP: 2828
Resistant to Ice (+100) and Wind (+50)
Vulnerable to Fire (-50) and Dark (-100)

Shiva is an Ice elemental. Her signature move, Diamond Dust, will activate when she has less than half of her health left. It too is a strong attack capable of 200+ damage.. Be sure to exploit her weakness to Fire and Dark by including Floating Eye and Tama in your stacks. Their elemental abilities will make short work of her. Be wary of including Sylph in your party due to her strength against Wind elements.

Regardless of who you beat you'll get 300 gil, a Mega Phoenix, and three Arma Gems. You'll also receive the prismarium of a Mirage based on who you defeated as mentioned above. The three eidolons take their leave and promise they will meet with you again. Tama gives you a way out of the cave and back to Cornelia.
