  • See it on Amazon for $20 (Blu-ray)

From our Review: A companion piece of sorts to their similarly raunchy yet theologically-minded This Is the End, writer-producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Sausage Party is a raucous animated comedy whose humor is frequently as low brow as its goals are high-minded. This is a R-rated toon about grocery store foods and products facing an existential crisis, one that explores and satirizes everything from the politics of the Middle East to religious dogma and sexual mores. It’s also consistently hilarious and unafraid to insult anyone and everyone. Nothing is sacred in Sausage Party and that is part of its demented charm.

  • See it on Amazon for $27 (Blu-ray)

From our Review: Daredevil was a fun, ferocious look at Marvel's own city-saving vigilante. Similar to DC's Batman and Green Arrow, Matt Murdock loves his city. Even more so, the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen which was hit hard by the Chitarui attack - one of the show's only mentioned connections to the MCU. In place of a crime-ravaged Irish immigrant-heavy neighborhood (as per the 60s/70s Daredevil comics), the choice was made to portray the square mile of crowded city as "mostly good people on hard times due to recent alien events." Still folksy, but more modern. A smart move that helped tie Daredevil to the rest of the MCU happenings, despite the fact that the show is the grittiest, most violent entry into Marvel's TV/movie canon so far.

  • See it on Amazon for $30 (Blu-ray)

From our Review: Last year, Black Sails' second season easily improved upon the first, with an arc that amazingly filled in Flint's backstory and explained his bond/relationship with Miranda. But the recently completed third season really pushed the show forward into expert territory, giving everyone in the ensemble a cracking good arc while also ushering us toward an exciting bottleneck-style finale focused on open war between the pirates and England. Everything clicked. Everything tracked. It was a puzzle and all the pieces fit. And in a very genuine, thoughtful way.

  • See it on Amazon for $60 [Currently Unavailable, Though]

From our Review: I still feel genuine excitement whenever I reach the fourth world of Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES, and that rush of adrenaline is a testament to the power of the great classic video games of the 1980s and early 90s: We know almost everything about them but they can still entertain us almost 30 years later. Nintendo’s tiny retro console is a wonderful reminder that the great 8-bit classics will never die. It comes preloaded with a great library of 30 mostly excellent games from the NES era, with headliners like The Legend of Zelda, Mega Man 2, and Dr. Mario for an attractive $59.99 USD, and its high-quality emulation wipes the floor with the Wii U’s ugly NES Virtual Console. But, for all of its remarkable authenticity, the ridiculously short controller wires make it a pain to use.
