Today BOOM! Studios announced that they've acquired the license to produce new comics based on the WWE and its colorful lineup of wrestlers. Now we can exclusively reveal that fans will be able to get their first taste of these new comics at Comic-Con later this month.
BOOM! will be selling a set of six, one-page comics at SDCC under the banner "WWE: Now. Then. Forever." Each of these comics will feature a pinup illustration on one side and a one-page "info-comic" on the reverse side that explores that wrestler's background and history in the ring. Three of these comics will focus on current wrestlers (Now), two will focus on retired favorites (Then) and the final comic will spotlight a legendary member of the WWE pantheon (Forever) Check out Rob Guillory's depiction of tag-team superstars The New Day below:
BOOM! has yet to reveal the other wrestlers that will be spotlighted in these mini-comics. Each of these six pinup images will be illustrated by a different artist, but all the info-comics will be drawn by Daniel Bayliss, colored by Doug Garbark and lettered by Jim Campbell. Each comic is priced at $5 and will be sold at BOOM's SDCC booth (#2229).
BOOM! revealed that the members of New Day will be present at the booth on Thursday, July 21. They also announced that they'll be holding a WWE-themed panel in Room 7AB on Saturday, July 23, where they'll reveal more details about this new WWE partnership and what titles fans can expect to see. Two attendees to the panel will win free passes to an upcoming WWE event.
