If you plan on collecting every single thing in Super Mario Odyssey, you’re going to need a lot of coins. And by a lot, we mean 37,189 coins if you don’t use amiibo to get any outfits. It takes 11,900 coins just to get the final Power Moons, and one special outfit costs 9,999 coins alone.
Below are great coin farming spots that should help make getting coins for those final moons and outfits much easier. We’ve picked three spots that you can reach early, midway, and late into the game.
If you’re in need of coins early on, visit the Cascade Kingdom’s Dinosaur Nest. It only yields a little over 140 coins in about two minutes, but it’s a simple and fun grinding area. You can access the nest after defeating the Broodal and revisiting the Cascade Kingdom.
Warp to Top of the Big Stump flag or use the Chain Chomp to expose a green pipe at the base of the cliff. Then, enter the Cappy Door on the cliff to find a sleeping T-Rex and plenty of things to crush for coins. Be sure to crush all enemies and tall rock pillars to get two Power Moons for extra coins.
Next up is a more complicated but lucrative farming spot in the Wooded Kingdom. After defeating the Broodal, head to the Observation Deck. Use Cappy to collect the transparent purple coins, capture the Glydon, and glide down to the Coin Coffer hiding in the north east corner of the field. Capture it and run toward the entrance to the Secret Flower Field to collect its coins. Crush the Coin Coffer, grab the old Power Moon, and get a seed from the Steam Gardner. Take the seed to the Observation Deck by using the path created by the blue button. Throw the seed into the dirt, and ride the stalk into the sky. Use the Uproot to collect every coin and transparent Power Moon in the area.
This path is a little complex, but yields over 260 coins in about two minutes.
Head over to Bowser's Kingdom for one of the fastest and easiest spots to farm coins. Warp to Beneath the Keep, walk away from the gate and head along the west wall toward the green pipe. Ground pound down to the platform below the west wall. Pick up the seed on the far end of the roof, and hop over to the other side where you can plant it in a patch of dirt. Grab onto the beanstalk and ride it into the clouds.
This challenge area is simple; use Cappy to equip the rocket flowers and speed across the platforms. Do not touch the left thumbstick! All you need to do is focus on jumping on the yellow ledges and grabbing more Rocket Flowers. Do a ground pound on the last platform to ensure that Mario can collect the last gold hoops at the end of the area.
This path yields 180 coins in about a minute and a half.
Bonus Tip: Get easy, low-intensity coin farming done with Coin Coffers. It’s slow, but a viable method if you want to zone out and focus on something else (like NVC)! Grab a Coin Coffer in the Sand Kingdom or one of the two in the Wooded Kingdom, run around to redeem the Coffer’s 30 coins, and reset the area by jumping off a ledge.
