PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Monthly Update Adds Xbox Controller Support, FPS-Only Servers

And a statement regarding the game's paid cosmetics .

The latest monthly update for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is out and sports a list of new features and tweaks.

Among the August's update for the most played non-valve title on Steam will see players have the opportunity to utilize Xbox controllers and adds dedicated first-person servers.

The support for Xbox controllers note in the patch list also mentions that there will be continued efforts to make improvements for the peripheral so players who choose to use this feature should expect some level of continued support.

The first person server options which were revealed to be coming last month, have been added to solo and duo game modes on the NA and EU servers. Additionally, players choosing to play in first-person mode will be matched with other like-minded competitors.

Brendan "PlayerUnkown" Greene also addresses the recent controversy surrounding the decision to add paid cosmetics to the game while the game remains in Early Access.

"While our intention was and still is to add the full feature to the game when we move into actual release, we do need to test it prior to launch and at Early Access so that it is stable and ready to be fully introduced to our community," he wrote.

"I do understand your concerns about the system, but I feel testing for a sturdy economy on the Steam Marketplace is necessary at this stage and ultimately beneficial for the game. And once again, this is a purely optional system, and you are not forced into participating if you do not feel like it."

The update also adds a number of item and vehicle tweaks, including the option to honk a car horn while sitting in a car's driver's seat, and a reduced cast time to First Aid and med kits to six and eight seconds, respectively.

A host of UI tweaks have also been made, as well as bug fixes affecting the camera and client crash issues.

Greene signs off the update by announcing that the community team will be taking care of future development blogs due to his coming travel plans which no doubt include the game's first Invitational Lan at Gamescom.
