Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire Expansion Revealed

The second expansion for the popular MMORPG Guild Wars 2 has been revealed.

ArenaNet has announced that Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire will be released on September 22 this year and feature a new story, as well as areas and further character customization.

Path of Fire comes nearly a year after the first Guild Wars 2 Expansion Heart of Thorns and will grant players five new open-world zones. These include the chance to revisit the Crystal Desert from the first Guild Wars, and the northern region of Elona from Guild Wars: Nightfall 250 years later.

In addition to the expansion's locales, fans can access new mounts which will allow them to explore Tyria in new ways, as well as a single use max-level boost and elite specializations to further customize their characters.

Before the official launch, ArenaNet is also allowing current good standing accounts access to a preview weekend running August 11 to 13. The weekend will allow players a look into the story of Path of Fire and an opportunity to try the raptor mount and Crystal Oasis map.

Players can pre-purchase the standalone expansion starting at $29.99 USD, which comes with a choice of weapon or skin from the Sunspear Weapon Set, the Elonia Envoy title, and a Miniature Balthazar.
