Junkertown Is Overwatch's Most Eccentric Map

Overwatch finally has its fourth Escort map: Junkertown, an eccentric favela-style city set in the ruins of an Omnic factory in the Australian outback, and it's great.

I played a couple of matches, but spent most of my time exploring the spawn rooms in search of those little Easter Eggs and lore details that Blizzard loves to stash away in its levels. On Attack, you start in what appears to be Roadhog and Junkrat's lair/base/apartment. That sounds grand but it's a ramshackle barn, a patchwork of splintered wood and rusty corrugated iron. You'll find Roadhog's motorcycle with sidecar, a small dirty kitchen, and under what must be Roadhog's bed, a used health canister.

Waiting outside is the payload, which is laden with treasure. If you've seen the new in-game short The Plan, you'll know this is Roadhog and Junkrat's offering to the Queen of Junkertown who has exiled them. The journey of this payload takes you inside Junkertown and eventually reaching what appears to be a gladiatorial-like arena in front of the shabby throne of Junkertown's Queen. The first checkpoint takes you inside Junkertown, while the second takes you inside the Queen's inner chambers. You can take a much closer look at the map by looking through the gallery below...

Finally Overwatch has its fourth Escort map. Unlike some Overwatch's idyllic locales – Ilios or Oasis – Junkertown isn't somewhere you want to visit because of its beauty but for its eccentric charm.
