Everwood Creators, Cast Talk Revival Likelihood

Everwood is available to stream on CW Seed.

The WB's small-town drama Everwood didn't make it to the air when the network merged with UPN in 2006—but it's made the CW lineup at last, sort of, as an addition to the network's streaming service, CW Seed. In honor of the 15th anniversary of the premiere—and its availability on streaming at last—the network gathered nearly the entire regular cast (minus Star Lord himself, Chris Pratt, who got his start on the series) to reminisce about the family show.

Pratt has spoken of his fondness for Everwood on numerous occasions, and although he wasn't present for the reunion (filming blockbusters like the Jurassic World sequel really does a number on a man's availability), his castmates remembered plenty about his time on the show. Below, eight revelations from the panel—including just how much they, too, love Chris Pratt.

1. It's All Real

As far as the cast of Everwood is concerned, Pratt tops their list of Hollywood Chrises.

"He is genuinely one of the funniest and nicest people ever," Everwood star Treat Williams said. Joked John Beasley, who taught the future Andy Dwyer how to play golf and tennis while filming in Utah, "he was a good-looking white boy." In all seriousness, though, "he's just a great guy and he deserves everything he gets," Beasley said.

2. So Emotional, Baby

No fewer than four different people broke into tears while speaking about their time on the show, including creator Greg Berlanti, as they all reflected on how close-knit they still are.

"The emotion came from Greg and Rina [Mimoun, executive producer]," Williams said. "It came down from them and we were given emotional work to do and when you're given work to do that's that deep and that powerful...it brought us all to a place that a lot of casts don't get to."

3. Serious Storylines

The show tackled everything from drunk driving to abortion in its four seasons, but Williams remembered one storyline in particular: "I think trying to talk Kristen Bell out of getting fake breasts was very powerful," he joked.

4. Lasting Legacy

Mimoun has been re-watching the series on CW Seed, and is thrilled with how timeless the stories seem. "I have been blown away...the subject matter we were dealing with was so unbelievably ahead of its time," she said, adding, "I hope people find it again. I think it holds up."

5. Alternate Ending

Berlanti and Mimoun planned ahead, and had two endings shot depending on whether the show was picked up or not. The first ending, with Amy (Emily Van Camp) confessing her love to Ephraim (Gregory Smith), is the one that aired. But an alternate version would've had Ephraim's ex, Madison, causing trouble.

"In the other version, Amy was going to be out there waiting by the ferris wheel; Eprhaim was going to be coming down and get a phone call from Madison...and he was suddenly not going to go downstairs, and Amy was going to have some egg on her face," Mimoun said.

6. Gone Too Soon

The consensus among fans is that the show was canceled too soon, and the Everwood team agrees. "It sucks, but that's how it shook out," star Tom Amandes said of the CW's decision to renew 7th Heaven instead of Everwood.

7. A Possible Reunion

TV reunions and revivals are all the rage these days, but the Everwood team hasn't given too much serious thought to doing one of their own. According to Berlanti, no network has even broached the subject about bringing the series back -- so here's your opportunity, Hollywood.

"I think we all would love to work together again," Berlanti said, later adding, "I'm sure I'd have an idea, [fellow EP Rina Mimoun] have an idea, and we'd argue about it."

Amandes pointed out that his character would have a child in high school now.

"The reboot is right there. It seems pretty clear," said Mimoun.

8. But Could It Work?

Aside from This Is Us, there aren't too many family dramas thriving on television right now—but Williams disagreed. "Look at Game of Thrones, it's just Everwood in fur," he joked.
