Avengers: Infinity War Adds Two More Familiar Faces

Spoilers ahead!

The cast of Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War already includes a large chunk of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we now have confirmation of two more members of the MCU joining the ensemble cast.

Spoilers ahead for those who don't want to know who will be appearing the film, as well as spoilers for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Turn back now!

Iron Man and Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Favreau posted a photo to Twitter, confirming that he and Gwyneth Paltrow will reprise their Iron Man roles in the upcoming third Avengers film.

"Infinity Trinity," Favreau wrote on Twitter

Favreau, who also directed the first two Iron Man films, has starred as Happy Hogan in the series, most recently reprising the role in Homecoming as the watchful eye over Peter Parker on behalf of Tony Stark. Paltrow has played Pepper Potts since the original Iron Man, and though she was absent from the MCU for both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, she returned for a brief appearance in Homecoming as well.

And while the Avengers film's cast has continued to expand, Samuel L. Jackson recently said he won't be appearing as Nick Fury in it, or the fourth Avengers film due out in 2019. In terms of characters who are confirmed to appear, Spider-Man's suit from Infinity War was recently revealed, while a San Diego Comic-Con 2017 poster offered a look at a bearded Captain America, Black Widow with new hair, and more characters from Infinity War.

Director Joe Russo also spoke to IGN at SDCC about the approach the film takes to its villain Thanos, including his costume, after previously speaking about Spider-Man and Doctor Strange's relationship in the film.

Looking even further ahead, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who are handling both upcoming Avengers films, recently announced the start of production on Marvel's Avengers 4.
