Kingdom Hearts Pays Homage to Final Fantasy VII

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, and to celebrate, a new Kingdom Hearts image has been released that pays homage to Square's beloved 1997 role-playing game.

The official Kingdom Hearts Twitter account posted the following image, which is a clear callback to the box art of the original Final Fantasy VII:

Today also brought with it a surprise for fans eagerly anticipating the upcoming remake of the classic PS1 role-playing game, as Square debuted FFVII Remake's official key art during the opening ceremony at its Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary celebration. During the ceremony the publisher also announced that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will release for PS4 on July 11.

Earlier this month, Square Enix released Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 -- Final Chapter Prologue, a compilation that Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover, 0.2 Birth By Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage - and a remastered version of the Nintendo 3DS game Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.
