A television adaptation of Robert Heinlein's sci-fi novel Stranger in a Strange Land is coming to Syfy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Cable Productions and Paramount Television are partnering to develop the series for the network.
In addition to writing the original 1961 classic, Heinlein is also the author of the 1959 novel Starship Troopers—which has a film reboot in development at Columbia Pictures.
Stranger in a Strange Land tells the story of a Mars-born human named Valentine Michael Smith who travels to Earth and reshapes the world's culture.
Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt and William Sherak of Mythology Entertainment are executive producing the series, alongside Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush of Scott Rudin Productions, as well as Joe Vecchio of Vecchio Entertainment. Julia Gunn of Mythology is on board to co-executive produce.
