Once thought lost forever, The Power of the Daleks was a six-part arc in the fourth season of Doctor Who, and originally premiered on the BBC 50 years ago. The complete original episodes of the saga have been lost since the BBC purged their archives in 1974. However, utilizing original audio, photographs, and surviving film clips, BBC Worldwide has now recreated the story brand new feature-length animation.

This story features the first of the series’ regenerations (then called “renewals”) with the First Doctor (William Hartnell) transforming into the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton), as a way of continuing the show once Hartnell’s health began interfering with his ability to perform the role. With his companions Polly (Anneke Wills) and Ben (Michael Craze), the Doctor battles his iconic foes – the Daleks – on planet Vulcan.

The special event, following in the spirit of previous cinematic releases for the 50th Anniversary Special and the Twelfth Doctor’s premiere episode, will also feature bonus content including interviews with original cast members. This will also mark the first time The Power of the Daleks has ever been shown in North America.

Tickets can be purchased through Fathom Events at select theaters nationwide. The continuing adventures of the current Doctor, as portrayed by Peter Capaldi, will continue in the upcoming Christmas special The Return of Doctor Mysterio. The special will also introduce the Doctor's newest companion Bill, played by Pearl Mackie.
