Nintendo Reportedly Ending Wii U Production This Week

Switching gears.

Nintendo will reportedly cease production of Wii U consoles later this week.

According to Eurogamer, several sources have told the outlet that Wii U production will end this Friday, November 4. The company's Japanese production line will reportedly shut down for good, after the deadline for final orders ended yesterday.

Back in April, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima said Wii U production could be halted by March 2018.

As of September 30, the total number of Wii Us shipped by Nintendo was just over 13 million units. Earlier this year, Kimishima revealed that one of the company's internal sales projections for Wii U was close to 100 million units worldwide.
