New Line's upcoming Mortal Kombat film reboot has found its director in Simon McQuoid.
According to Variety, the Australian filmmaker and acclaimed commercial director is in talks to helm the movie, with James Wan on board as producer and Greg Russo having written the latest draft of the script.
In addition to being an incredibly popular video game franchise, Mortal Kombat was adapted into two live-action film adaptations in the 90s, as well as a webseries called Mortal Kombat: Legacy. While New Line's film reboot has been a long time coming, Wan has made it clear he doesn't intend to rush the project and wants to be sure it's done right.
McQuoid is best known for his award-winning commercial work, having been involved in a number of ad campaign for major companies, including PlayStation, Ranger Rover and Halo.
