Owners of the iPhone 6 Plus suffering from so-called "touch disease" can now have their phones repaired by Apple for a reduced price.
Basically, if your touch-screen is unresponsive, you can get it fixed, officially, for $149 USD.
The problem, which affects phones "dropped multiple times on a hard surface," is a malfunctioning of the iPhone 6 Plus' multi-touch screen, marked by a grey bar at the top of the screen.
According to Apple, "some iPhone 6 Plus devices may exhibit display flickering or Multi-Touch" problems after incurring the stresses associated with the phone hitting the ground.
The site iFixit first uncovered the problem and blames it on a design defect inherent in the devices. The problem isn't in the screen itself, iFixit reported, but rather the problem is caused by the touchscreen controller chips on the logicboard of the phone itself.
Apple says it will reimburse affected users who may have paid to have the issue resolved, equal to the difference in the price paid "for the original service" and "the $149 service price."
For the Apple faithful, $149 is a small price to pay for continued use of the latest iPhone. Apple's banking on the faithfulness of its fanbase for more than just repairs: it recently revealed a $300 book of Apple product photos.
