The directorial lineup for the second season of Marvel's Jessica Jones will be comprised entirely of women.
Melissa Rosenberg, executive producer of the hit Netflix-exclusive series, shared the news during her panel at Transform Hollywood, which was relayed on Twitter by Variety's Mo Ryan (via ScreenRant).
Rosenberg spoke to aiming for a diverse set of perspectives as well when hiring for the show's writing staff, according to Variety, explaining that she looks for those with people who have experiences separate from hers.
"When I interview a writer, I’m less interested in what you’ve been doing professionally than I am in where you’re from, what your parents do, what’s your life experience, what are you bringing to the table personally," Rosenberg said.
Marvel's Jessica Jones: Season 2 will span a total of 13 episodes. Shooting will reportedly begin later this year and film back-to-back with The Defenders, with an anticipated release sometime in 2018. In the meantime, be sure to check out IGN's review of Jessica Jones: Season 1.
Another Marvel project will likely have a female in the director's seat, with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige saying he believes its important that Captain Marvel be directed by a woman.
