While Doctor Strange wrapped filming back in April, it looks like Marvel is making a few late additions, as the studio brought Dan Harmon on board to write some new scenes for its upcoming comic book film.
Harmon, who created Community and co-created Rick and Morty, is writing scenes that are for additional photography, a source told The Hollywood Reporter. Typically, Marvel movies (like most big studio tentpole films at this point) factor in several days of additional photography into their production plan.
Marvel Studios has been pulling talent from Community to great success. Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo were the primary directors on that series in its early seasons, and are now working on the next Avengers film. On the acting front, the Russos have given cameos in the Cap movies to Community alums Danny Pudi and Jim Rash, while Donald Glover will appear in upcoming MCU film, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Amusingly, as BirthMoviesDeath pointed out, Community once had a scene featuring Joel McHale and Alison Brie discussing the Marvel movies that wasn't exactly the most flattering description.
Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the surgeon turned sorcerer. For more on the film ahead of its November 4 release, check out this batch of Doctor Strange set photos.
