Oscar winner Jared Leto has joined the cast of Alcon Entertainment's upcoming sequel to Blade Runner.
The actor, who just recently starred as the Joker in Suicide Squad, will appear alongside Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis and Dave Bautista in a role that has yet to be detailed.
"We are thrilled that Jared has agreed to play a key role in the Blade Runner sequel," Alcon co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said in a statement. "He is a phenomenal actor, and we know he will create a truly memorable, never before seen character."
Prisoners and Sicario director Denis Villeneuve is helming the film, which takes place several decades after the 1982 original. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green penned the script, and original Blade Runner director Ridley Scott is on board as executive producer.
Alcon's currently untitled Blade Runner sequel will open in theaters October 6, 2017.
