Microsoft will add a wheelchair option for its Xbox avatars, Xbox head Phil Spencer announced over the weekend.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, Spencer wrote that no petition was needed to persuade Microsoft to add a wheelchair option for avatars — it's something the team is already working on, and the feature is "not far off." Today, platform head Mike Ybarra chimed in with a preview.
The images also suggest a visual upgrade is coming to Microsoft's Xbox avatars, which first debuted in 2008. Avatars were initially left out of the Xbox One design, but have since returned to the console.
Microsoft is launching its Windows 10 anniversary update on August 2. The update will bring background music to the Xbox One, as well as Language Region Independence. The company did not mention whether the Avatar update will hit then, too.
