Nintendo Developing a New Handheld Codenamed MH, Say Reports

Mega Huge.

A Japanese financial report seems to point to a new Nintendo handheld console codenamed the MH.

Pointed out on NeoGAF, a Yahoo Japan finance story on Nintendo's current business practices seems to out the existence of the new hardware. Our translation reads:

"The driving force up until now has been new business from "health services, theme parks and mobile games etc", but will switch over to the next generation game system (NX) and next-gen handheld game device (MH (temporary name))."

The MH has not been mentioned previously, but one of the many rumours about NX has been that it will launch as a portable and home console.

Nintendo will release the Nintendo NX in March 2017, but will not be discussing the new console at E3 2016.

Nintendo's president recently reiterated that the NX will be a "new way of playing games".

IGN has reached out to Nintendo for comment.

Joe Skrebels is IGN's UK News Editor, and he'd be totally cool with the MH being a console specifically just for playing Monster Hunter games. Follow him on Twitter.
