This 24-Karat Gold NES Is the Stuff of Retro Dreams

If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

If you are a true connoisseur of retro gaming, and money is no object, hardware manufacturer Analogue might have just the console for you.

The company has taken its already-high end Analogue Nt NES console and plated it inside and out with 24k gold. The gold edition is limited to only 10 units and are being offered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda's release.

If you aren't familiar with the Analogue Nt, it's a console for playing NES games. However, rather than simply dump cartridge ROMs and run them through emulation, as is the case with other retro game consoles, the Analogue Nt is built with actual Nintendo Entertainment System hardware.

The base model Nt houses the hardware in a shell of aircraft-grade aluminum and will set you back a cool $500. However, Analogue promises unparalleled compatibility with all games and peripherals, as the hardware is a perfect match. It also outputs through your choice of RGB or HDMI, something the original NES doesn't do without hardware mods or help from inline devices.

The 24k gold version of the Analogue Nt is the same, but also includes a clear base so you can look at, and appreciate, the hardware inside. It also comes with a gold version of the original Legend of Zelda cartridge for the NES, as well as a special edition box.

All that golden goodness doesn't come cheap. While the run is limited to just 10 units, each unit is priced at $5000 on Analogue's website. If you're an NBA star or just really into playing games as authentically as possible, you can reserve one now.
