We know what you're probably thinking. Marvel just reverted The Avengers back to its legacy numbering, and already they're relaunching with a new #1 issue? But when you have a creative team as impressive as this attached, you can number your book however the heck you choose.
The first new book to debut as part of Marvel's "Fresh Start" initiative, The Avengers puts a new spin on Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The roster features a healthy mix of Avengers icons and more unpredictable recruits, all of whom are joining forces to confront the ancient mysteries introduced in the pages of Marvel Legacy #1 last year. This is shaping up to be the perfect book for fans who want a clean jumping-on point after Infinity War or just want to see two of the best creators in the business working their magic together.
Writers Scott Tipton & David Tipton | Artist Chris Johnson | Cover Artist J. K. Woodward (IDW Publishing)
Who doesn't love a good Mirror Universe story? This follow-up to the miniseries Mirror Broken pits the good and evil versions of the Next Generation crew against one another as the ISS Enterprise crosses over into the main Star Trek universe. This has all the makings of an epic new conflict for Captain Picard and the gang.
Writers Dan Jurgens, Max Landis & Mark Russell | Artists Will Conrad, Francis Manapul & Jill Thompson | Cover Artist Will Conrad (DC Comics)
The only downside to Brian Michael Bendis taking over the Superman line is that the current creative teams have to end their runs. Action Comics Special #1 serves as a finale to Dan Jurgens' two-year run on the title, with the main story delivering the final word on Lex Luthor's attempt to remodel himself as a superhero. Also look for backup stories, including one that reunites Superman: American Alien writer Max Landis with artist Francis Manapul.
Writer Mark Waid | Artists Leonardo Romero, J. G. Jones & Adam Hughes | Cover Artist Michael Cho (Marvel Comics)
Chris Samnee may be done with Captain America, but Mark Waid still has more stories to tell before handing the series over to Ta-Nehisi Coates in July. This issue jumps forward to the 22nd Century, as the grandson of Steve Rogers carries on his legacy in a seemingly utopian Marvel Universe. We'll miss Samnee, but with an all-star lineup of artists like this, there's no reason to stop reading Cap now.
