DeWanda Wise has joined the cast of Captain Marvel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wise will have a supporting role in the upcoming MCU movie. The actress stars as Nola Darling in the Netflix series She's Gotta Have It. She also appeared in last year's crime drama Shots Fired, as well as the history drama Underground.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing Captain Marvel, which stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel). The cast also includes Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, and Ben Mendelsohn as the movie's villain. The Skrulls will appear in Captain Marvel, so it's believed Mendelsohn might star as the leader of these shapeshifting extraterrestrials.
Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019. Shortly thereafter, Larson will appear as the Marvel hero in Avengers 4, which opens in theaters on May 3, 2019.
