The protagonist Starkiller from the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game series was almost brought into the mainline Star Wars fold as a canon character.
Sam Witwer, the voice of Starkiller (via Polygon) revealed during a Twitch stream that his character was considered to appear in the CGI animated television series Star Wars Rebels.
Starkiller was potentially going to feature as one of Vader's inquisitors who would personally hunt down enemy Jedi. This, however, fell apart due to the overpowered nature of the video game hero.
Over the course of the game's series, Starkiller takes down many Jedi masters and survives being not only hurled into space but also a wound from Vader himself. Players can even find themselves striking down Darth Vader and taking his place at the end of the first game.
The overpowered nature of his character makes sense over the course of a video game making for fun and challenging triumphs for players to experience, but as far as fitting them into Star Wars doctrine it's easy to see why Starkiller was left out.
Who knows what new faces we'll see alongside some old ones when Star Wars: The Last Jedi which hits cinemas on December 15. Just don't expect Han Solo to show up, as his ghost is merely a figurative one.
