Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya, a CG remake of the classic 80s anime Saint Seiya, is coming to Netflix.
As reported by Cinema Today (translation via Kotaku), D.Gray-man Hallow director Yoshiharu Ashino is helming the series, which will begin with the Galaxy War arc and continue up to the Silver Saint arc.
Season 1 of this new series from Netflix and Toei Animation will span a total of 12 episodes, each 30 minutes in length. While no specific debut date has been announced, Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya is said to be "coming soon."
The original anime series, based on Masami Kurumada's manga of the same name, ran from 1986 to 1989 and spanned over 100 episodes. Saint Seiya centers around the five "Saints," a group of warriors with mystical powers who defend Athena from other gods who seek to destroy the planet.
A fighting game based on the series was released for PlayStation 3 in 2013. For our thoughts on the title, read IGN's Saint Seiya: Brave Warriors review. An updated version of the game, titled Saint Seiya: Soldiers' Soul, released for PS3, PS4 and PC in 2015.
