Ninja Gaiden Creator Steps Down at Devil's Third Studio, Will Become a Consultant

Tomonobu Itagaki will aim to help studios around the world.

The creator of the Ninja Gaiden series Tomonobu Itagaki has stepped down from his position as Representative Director and Chief Technical Officer at Valhalla Game Studios.

An official letter from Valhalla Game Studios details Itagaki's resignation from his position to focus on contributing as much to the games industry as possible rather than focusing on creating individual games as he had done in the past.

In this vein, Itagaki will continue to work with Valhalla Game Studios as a prime advisor in which he hopes to continue to provide help and direction to the young team that work there. However, his plans are also to act as a consultant to many other studios all over the world in order to contribute as much as possible to the games industry as a whole.

Itagaki explains further in a Facebook post that this decision came at the turn of his 50th birthday where he realized he wanted to change the way he worked and help game developers all over the world bloom.

Valhalla Studios released Devil's Third two years ago to less than stellar reviews. Its legacy also died out fairly quickly with Nintendo discontinued the online multiplayer only a year later.
