Live-Action DC Series Titans Has Its Starfire

What actress is stepping into Starfire's shoes?

Titans, an upcoming live-action dramatic series based on characters from the DC Universe, has cast an actress in the role of Starfire. That actress is Anna Diop, who prior to this was likely best known for playing Nicole Carter on 24: Legacy.

While Starfire is not as well-known as DC characters such as Batman or Aquaman, she will certainly be familiar to anybody who watched Teen Titans or Cartoon Network's Teen Titans Go!. Starfire is an alien from the planet Tamaran who can fly and shoot green energy bolts from her eyes. Her portrayal in Titans is intended to be serious and no-nonsense, which is certainly different from her portrayal in Teen Titans Go! where she is all nonsense.

In both Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!, the team consists of Robin, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy, so one imagines those characters will be a part of this new show as well. No other casting news has been announced at present, but DC Digital's Titans is scheduled to debut in 2018 for a not-yet-launched DC-branded digital service.

Chris Morgan is the author of The Ash Heap of History and The Comic Galaxy of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Wisely or not, he's also on Twitter.
