Dragon Quest Builders 2 Announced for Switch and PS4

Four-player multiplayer, gliding and more new features.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 has been announced for PlayStation 4 Nintendo Switch.

As reported by Gematsu, Square Enix unveiled the title at Dragon Quest Summer Festival 2017 in Tokyo. The sequel to Dragon Quest Builders will feature a number of new additions, including four-player multiplayer and an increased limit to the number of blocks you can stack.

The game will also feature slopes and allow you to glide from across the world using a glider, Additionally, you'll have the ability to dive underwater, fill areas with water and make waterfalls.

With regard to the setting, Gematsu notes Square Enix mentioned both "fellow travelers" and "young Malroth." Longtime fans will recognize Malroth as the final boss of Dragon Quest II (or Sidoh in the Game Boy version of DQII).

Square Enix has yet to announce a release date for the title. While details regarding a release outside of Japan have yet to be revealed, Dragon Quest Builders producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto said last year that Square Enix is "committed" to releasing more Dragon Quest titles in the west. In fact, Square Enix just recently confirmed Dragon Quest XI is coming to the west in 2018.
