New revelations about the original team await.

A new ongoing comic book series called Saban's Go Go Power Rangers is coming from BOOM! Studios by writer Ryan Parrott and artist Dan Mora.

This will be the second Power Rangers ongoing from the publisher, and where Mighty Morphin Power Rangers plays up the big action and takes place after Tommy joined the team as the Green Ranger, Go Go will dig into the personal lives of the team starting the day after the first episode of the TV show.

“One of the things about the pilot that I liked so much is that they just get dropped into the entire thing. They’re morphing; they have Zords; and then they’re fighting a giant monkey in an armored suit. It's like, ‘it's that fast?’” Parrott told Mashable. “The day after that, sitting in the local diner while everybody's wondering what happened is exactly one of the scenes in the first issue — them sitting around going, ‘What just happened?’ I think that's the fun. That's a lot of where the stories of Go Go will take place, in those in-between moments… where they actually respond like real people.”

The comic will add some new wrinkles to the history of the group. It turns out that Billy was once great friends with bullies Bulk and Skull when they were younger, Kimberly had a boyfriend before Tommy, and there was was a sixth member of the group who didn’t become a Power Ranger.

While the two different comics can be read separately, those who read both will see some connective tissue.

“I will say that there's something coming up in this next arc that actually really stems from an idea that Ryan threw out, and I just kind of took it and sprinted,” said Kyle Higgins, who writes Mighty Morphin (with Hendry Prasetya on art). “It's probably my favorite thing that we've done yet in this series. And when people see what it is ... you're going to know it when you see it, either when it's announced, or when it comes out. I just think it's so cool, and I can't wait to write it.”

And IGN is excited to debut a variant cover by Mora.
