Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 2 Revealed

Hooked on a feeling for a brand new soundtrack.

The soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been announced, revealing Star-Lord's new mix of classic rock songs, as well as a track original to the upcoming Marvel sequel.

Awesome Mix Vol. 2 will feature 14 tracks and be available this Friday, April 21 for purchase. Check out the full setlist below:

  • "Mr. Blue Sky" — Electric Light Orchestra
  • "Fox on the Run" — Sweet
  • "Lake Shore Drive" — Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah
  • "The Chain" — Fleetwood Mac
  • "Bring It on Home to Me" — Sam Cooke
  • "Southern Nights" — Glen Campbell
  • "My Sweet Lord" — George Harrison
  • "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" — Looking Glass
  • "Come a Little Bit Closer" — Jay and the Americans
  • "Wham Bam Shang-a-Lang" — Silver
  • "Surrender" — Cheap Trick
  • "Father and Son" — Cat Stevens
  • "Flash Light" — Parliament
  • "Guardians Inferno" — The Sneepers feat. David Hasselhoff

If that last track sounds unfamiliar, it's because "Guardians Inferno" is a brand new song created for the film, co-written by Guardians director James Gunn and composer Tyler Bates.

According to an interview with Rolling Stone, Hasselhoff was chosen as he's meant to be one of Peter Quill's heroes back when he was a kid on Earth. And for eagle-eyed Marvel fans, the Sneepers are an alien race from Marvel Comics that first appeared in the 1960s.

Gunn has actually hinted at the Sneepers inclusion before. In a Facebook post from late 2015, Gunn said he was given a note on his script for the sequel advising him not to include Sneeper because "Sneeper is a word for clitoris in Icelandic."

Listen to the soundtrack — minus the currently unreleased "Guardians Inferno" — below:

Awesome Mix Vol. 2 follows in the footsteps of Vol. 1, featured in the original Guardians of the Galaxy as the songs Peter Quill listened to via his cassette plater. In addition to this latest reveal about what to expect from the sequel, Gunn confirmed the sequel will have five post-credit scenes.

Gunn also revealed he will be back to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Before then, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released in theaters on May 5.
