Full spoilers for The Walking Dead's latest episode, "Go Getters," and the Walking Dead comics continue below.
While Rick is busy making nice in Alexandria, a couple of his key allies are taking matters into their own hands. In "Go Getters," Carl decided to set off after Negan himself, while Sasha sent Jesus on a top secret mission to find the Saviors' Sanctuary. And, in a major deviation from Robert Kirkman's comics, Jesus and Carl set off on their parallel journeys together.
Click on the arrow to progress through the below slideshow and see how Carl and Jesus's journeys to find Negan compare to the comics, as well as a look at how that might change things going forward. Due to the graphic nature of both The Walking Dead comics and TV show, the slideshow below contains strong language.
Both Jesus and Carl headed to Sanctuary at about the same point in the comics that they're heading there now, but notably they did so alone. In fact, it's even a major plot point in the comics that Jesus didn't know Carl was there as well, meaning that this change could spark more changes down the road, especially since Daryl is being held in Sanctuary as well.
The fact that three, not one, of Rick's group will be infiltrating and/or captured at Sanctuary at the same time marks a huge change from the source material, and sends the storylines of Jesus and Carl diverging in really interesting ways. Jesus might follow orders, but he also might decide to stay behind and help protect Carl. Carl might head straight for Negan, or he might decide he'd be better off helping Daryl escape. They all might work together. Or they might get caught by Negan and the Saviors and result in another head bashed in by a bloody bat.
What do you think will happen now that Jesus and Carl are traveling together? Do you expect big changes from the comics, or do you think things will happen pretty close to the source material?
