Sean Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea Berthelsen have all joined the cast of Stranger Things: Season 2.
According to Variety, Astin will play a "kind-hearted former nerd" named Bob Newby who went to school with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour), and now manages the local RadioShack. In addition to starring in The Goonies and Rudy, Astin played Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings.
Meanwhile, Reiser will play Dr. Owens, an employee at the Department of Energy who needs to keep a lid on the crazy events that transpired the year prior. The actor, who played Burke in James Cameron's 1986 classic Aliens, currently stars in the Amazon series Red Oaks.
Finally, Berthelsen will appear as an emotionally broken woman named Roman. While she isn't a resident of Hawkins, Roman is connected in some way to the mysterious events that took place at the Department of Energy lab. In addition to Stranger Things, Berthelsen is set to appear in an upcoming mini-series called The Desert.
Stranger Things: Season 2 is currently in production and will feature the return of a certain key character.
