See How Well the PS4 Pro Improves Graphics and Framerate

The PS4 Pro is finally here and we've put it through its paces. While not all games are supported, the ones that are have noticeably improved graphics that really do need to be seen to be believed.

These clips are, for the most part, captured in 4K. If you want to really see how much the graphics are improved, you're obviously going to want a 4K monitor. However, even an UHD monitor will show you some of the improvements over high-definition.

If you have a Macbook with Retina display, you'll be able to take advantage of at least some of the improved resolution captured in the clips. Same with a 1440p monitor.

If the only choice you have right now is a full HD display (1080p) you can, at the very least, appreciate the framerate improvements offered in the PS4 Pro upgrades. However, a 4K video feed gobbles up a ton of bandwidth, and unless you have a really fast download speed, it might not be worth the trouble.

We added a clip of Rise of the Tomb Raider and a clip of inFamous: Second Son in 1080p running at 60 fps, so non-UHD viewers can get a taste of the PS4 Pro's improvements to how well the game looks.

Be sure to check out our full PS4 Pro review to get an idea of whether or not it's worth your time and money.

Compare and Contrast: PS4 vs. PS4 Pro

The easiest way to see the difference between games running on the original and the Pro is to compare them side by side.

Here's inFamous: Second Son:

And here's Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4 and PS4 Pro:

The Last of Us

One of the last games for the PS3 pushed the system to its limits and was arguably the best looking game of last generation. The PS4 remaster brought that realism into the current gen, and on the PS4 Pro, it runs at 60fps in 4K.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox 360, and was easily one of the best looking games on those systems. In 4K on PS4 Pro, it looks even more amazing.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was an early sleeper hit this generation, coming seemingly from nowhere and wrapping Assassin's Creed-like gameplay in a Lord of the Rings shell. The PS4 Pro breathes new life into the game. We have two clips here: the first few minutes, and taking down an encampment of orcs.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

The most recent game on this round-up takes full advantage of the extra wiggle room provided by the PS4 Pro. Make sure you check out our Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare review in progress.

Infamous: Second Son

Sucker Punch's inFamous: Second Son is another game that is a logical choice for the Pro treatment. When it first came out, it graphics and fluidity were easily its strongest points, and in 4K that attention to detail is even more amazing.
