It’s cold outside, there’s no kind of atmosphere, and Red Dwarf may be coming to Lego Dimensions.
Games designer and writer for TT Games, Joe Moore, tweeted out the following image along with the caption "Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for brick-fast.”
While it's not been confirmed by the publisher yet, it’s certainly an interesting tease. Lego Dimensions is known for bringing other IP into its universe, which already includes another BBC property in Doctor Who, so Red Dwarf wouldn’t be a massive stretch. Not to mention the fact that’s clearly the living quarters in the image.
Suffice to say, we’ve reached out to Warner Bros. and will update should we hear back.
Red Dwarf is a British comedy space-opera which first aired in 1988. It follows the exploits of Dave Lister (a waster with a heart of gold and curry), Arnold Rimmer (a cowardly hologram you love to hate), Kryten (a housemaid-style mechanoid), and Cat (a Felis-sapien – an evolved feline obsessed with his appearance).
There was an American version of the show planned to air on NBC in 1992, but the end result was about as enjoyable as listening to Rimmer read a passage from the Space Corps Directive.
Whether Red Dwarf will get a full cast of figures in Dimensions or just a one-off level pack, isn’t yet known. We hope so, though.
In our review of Lego Dimensions, we said the game’s “kitchen-sink approach to packing its worlds full of great characters and fun references consistently left me with a big dumb grin on my face.”
