Overwatch’s Sombra Finally Confirmed

New map, Oasis, also on the way, as well as new Arcade mode.

After a long series of teases, countdowns, and leaks, Blizzard finally made Overwatch’s new hero, Sombra, official on stage at BlizzCon today.

Blizzard described her as a "stealthy offensive infiltrator." A new map, Oasis, was also announced, as well as a new Arcade, featuring two new game types including 1v1 and 3v3 arena-style mode and a new map called Echo Point Arcade.

Sombra, Arcade, and Echo Point Arcade will be on the Public Test Realm next week, with Oasis coming in December.

Blizzard also announced that it's established an Overwatch League for pro-level competitions. The inaugural season will begin in 2017, and Blizzard will host a combine for players to join professional teams. Players will be eligible for contracts including minimum guaranteed salaries as well as benefits.

Sombra leaks and ARGs have been ongoing for months, with an early look at the character leaking last month ahead of Overwatch’s Halloween event.

Overwatch has been a huge hit for Blizzard, with more than 20 million registered players and an extremely devoted fan community.
