The latest patch for Skyrim: Special Edition is out now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
The patch adds in unspecified performance tweaks as well as a much-needed fix for the screen not correctly aligning on certain display types on Xbox One and PS4.
The full channel log:
- General performance and optimization improvements
- Fixed rare issue with NPCs not appearing in proper locations
- Fixed an issue with interface elements not appearing correctly on certain displays (Xbox One and PS4 only)
- Fixed issue with saves erroneously being marked as Modded, even though no mods are active
- Updated some sound files to not use compression
However, Eurogamer reports multiple users are experiencing crashes when loading a save or fast-travelling after having installed the patch. [Note: I've just loaded up my save and it's working as it should.]
Bethesda forum staff have said they’re looking into the reports and will update “as soon as possible."
Skyrim: Special Edition is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. In our review, we said:
“If you’ve never experienced Skyrim, the Special Edition is certainly an adventure you can’t afford to miss. It still includes many of the original version’s bugs, ugly character models, and weak combat animations, but the memorable world benefits hugely from improved lighting and effects.
“There's also some appeal here if you've played before and want to relive Skyrim with the current generation systems, but you'll be best served by picking up the Xbox One version over the PS4 because of superior mod support."
