First Look at Live-Action Beauty and the Beast Revealed

A tale as old as time made new.

Ahead of its planned 2017 release, a first official look at the leads in Disney's live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast has been unveiled.

Entertainment Weekly's latest cover offers the first glimpse of Dan Stevens as the Beast and Emma Watson as Belle, evoking the iconic ballroom dance scene from the 1991 animated Disney film.

EW also revealed a series of exclusive images featuring a deeper look at the movie's cast.

The photos reveal Belle and the Beast at different points in the film, as well as the film's supporting cast, including Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, and the movie's takes on Cogsworth (Ian McKellen), Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson), Lumiere (Ewan McGregor), and Plumette (Gugu Mbatha-Raw).

Disney recently pulled back the curtain on the original film as part of the film's upcoming 25th anniversary, revealing new concept art and sketches from the original movie. IGN also recently took a look at how Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, and more Disney live-action remakes look in comparison to the animated versions.

Several other live-action takes on Disney animated movies are in the works and set for release after Beauty and the Beast, including the recently revealed Snow White, Aladdin, and The Lion King movies, the latter of which will be directed by The Jungle Book's Jon Favreau.

Directed by Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 and 2), Beauty and the Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.
