Catch a Free Rare Pokemon Today

Event Pokemon are special Pokemon given out over the Nintendo Network or at select locations during a small time frame.

Update: Eleven Pokemon that are only given out during events will be distributed once a month this year starting February 1st with Mew. They will be available for Pokemon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X, and Y.

To get these Pokemon, you must choose "Mystery Gift" at the main menu of your Pokemon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire game. The next step depends on the method of distribution. Some Pokemon are distributed over the internet, some are at select areas via wireless connection, and some are obtained through special codes.

Once received, the Event Pokemon can be obtained from a Delivery Woman at any Pokemon Center in the game. Make sure you have an open spot in your party. If you wish to get a specific Nature or Individual Values, save before talking to the Delivery Woman, then Soft Reset (L+R+START or SELECT).

In addition to the Event Pokemon, you will receive a Wonder Card. All Wonder Cards are viewable from the Card Album in the Mystery Gift Menu. Only 24 Wonder Cards can be held on a game cartridge. If you can't receive the Event Pokemon, you may need to delete some Wonder Cards.

Mew is one of the eleven Mythical Pokemon that was distributed via code from participating GameStops and GAME stores for the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, but if you missed it when it first came around, you can get it now! To obtain it, sign up for a free trainer account on the official Pokemon website. You have to sign up by June 1, 2016 to receive the next newsletter. A special code will be sent to your inbox that will allow you to download Mew in Pokemon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X, or Y.

While connected to the internet, select Mystery Gift > Receive Gift > Get With Code and enter the code in Pokemon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X, or Y before August 31, 2016 to download this Pokemon to your game. Visit the nearest Pokemon Center and speak with the delivery person inside to add this Pokemon to your team.

This is the same Mew that was first distributed in February, so if you obtained Mew then, you cannot get another one in the same game.

Three of the four legendary Regi Pokemon will be available as special event Pokemon for a limited time to those who access the Pokemon Bank. What makes these Regi special? They will each have their rare hidden ability!

The Pokemon Bank is an app of sorts on the 3DS that allows players to transport Pokemon from Generation 5 to Generation 6 games. We now know that it functions with the digital versions of Generation 1 games, and will allow players to transfer their Pokemon to the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon games. This app requires a $4.99 annual membership fee to use.

To obtain these Pokemon, select the Pokemon Link option from the main menu of your Pokemon X, Y, Omega Ruby, or Alpha Sapphire game. Once you've received the Pokemon in Pokemon Bank, select Pokemon Link and the three Pokemon will be sent to a box in your game. Make note, you can only receive these Pokemon once per Pokemon Bank account!
