The next Thor movie stands apart from its predecessors because it's not actually a solo superhero adventure. Instead, Thor: Ragnarok will pair the Son of Asgard with Hulk as the two team up to take on the worst foes the galaxy has to offer. That team-up approach is an interesting change of pace for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it could mark the beginning of a trend.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently hinted that the MCU might start to focus more on unexpected pairings between heroes rather than the epic ensemble approach of the Avengers movies. That naturally had us wondering which Marvel heroes would best fit such an approach. The MCU has already grown pretty massive over the past eight years, and that growth isn't slowing down anytime soon. Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and will open on November 3, 2017. This sequel features a massive cast that includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. The film will also welcome several key newcomers to the MCU, including Cate Blanchett as Hela, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge and Sam Neill in an undisclosed role.
