Two independent game developers are celebrating their Destiny-set engagement, thanks to some help from Bungie.
Adriel Wallick, organizer of the annual Train Jam, an event that invites game developers to create a game on the 52-hour train ride from Chicago to San Francisco in the lead up to the Game Developers Conference, proposed to her partner Rami Ismail, one-half of the independent developer Vlambeer, the studio behind Nuclear Throne and Luftrausers.
Using some custom-made Destiny content for the engagement, the team at Bungie delivered the proposal from Wallick as a letter from the Postmaster.
Wallick was able to implement a unique new Proposal emote, and Ismail was awarded a newly-created artifact called Ring of Eternity, which included the description "For Guardians who have found their perfect match."
The two shared their story through a series of tweets over their accounts, including the idea that yesterday’s DDOS attack outages nearly ruined the whole plan.
Wallick tweeted her thanks to the Bungie team as a whole and in particular Poria Torkan, a marketing producer at the studio, "who somehow managed to convince an entire team at Bungie to dedicate time and effort to such a dorky proposal."
