Pokemon Go Update Adds Feature for Seeing Hidden Stats

Trust your Instincts. Show Valor. Be, er, Mystical.

After finally getting faces, Pokemon Go's Team Leaders now actually have something to do with the addition of a "Pokémon Appraisal" feature.

Alongside minor fixes, Android version 0.35.0 and iOS version 1.5.0 of the mobile sensation adds a feature useful for those aiming to intensively train their best Pokemon.

Pokemon Appraisal sees your chosen Team's leader hinting at (but, crucially, not explicitly showing) the potential attack and defense of a chosen monster, letting players know which are best suited to further leveling.

Like the core Pokemon games, each individual Pokemon has a set of hidden attributes that determine their stat ceiling. An initially strong capture may be capped far earlier than a seemingly weaker one, and Appraisal lets players who want to take on tougher gyms prioritise their best Pokemon.

Niantic's latest patch notes also take the time to say: "We are still working hard on several new and exciting features to come in the future of Pokémon Go."

While it's not clear what those features are, Niantic has previously said that it was exploring adding trading, Pokemon Centres, PokeStop customization and, of course, more Pokemon to catch.
