Pokemon GO Launches in Australia, New Zealand

But it's only available in Australia and New Zealand for now.

Pokemon GO has appeared in the wild — but only in specific regions.

Pokemon GO is now available for Android and iOS devices, but appears to, as of press time, only be available in the Australia and New Zealand regions. IGN has confirmed the game is downloadable in Australia on both iOS and Android phones.

There is no official word on when the app will be available in other regions, but we will update this story when it appears in other major territories.

IGN has reached out to Pokemon Company regarding a U.S. and U.K. launch and will update should we hear back.

IGN spent a week with the game while it was in beta, and for more on what we discovered, read our editors' impressions of the early version of the game.

The augmented reality smartphone game is free to download and allows players to capture Pokemon they discover out in the real world, join gyms, and more. The Pokemon GO Plus Wristband is currently available for pre-order and will alert players who purchase it when Pokemon are nearby without them having to look directly at their phones.

Jonathon Dornbush cannot wait to start finding Pokemon in his city. Talk to him about which pocket monsters you've captured on Twitter.
